The top administrator at Margaretta Schools could announce his departure as early as next month, pending the results of another district’s superintendent search.
Findlay Schools plans to select and announce its new superintendent in February, according to a recent article in the Findlay Courier.
Margaretta Schools superintendent Ed Kurt is one of three finalists for the job.
Findlay Schools officials announced in mid-December they were extending their search, which was originally slated to end at the end of that month. At that time, no deadline had been determined. Officials were discussing the job with unidentified candidates who didn’t apply, as well as Kurt and two other applicants.
On Tuesday, the district said its three finalists and their spouses will visit Findlay Schools during the next three weeks, according to the Courier. The finalists will also meet with focus groups Jan. 24 to “share information about themselves and participate in question-and- answer sessions”
Kurt is requesting $135,000 a year from Findlay Schools, according to his application.
He currently receives $118,000 a year at Margaretta Schools. His contract ends July 2016.
Dean Wittwer, the current Findlay Schools superintendent, is retiring in July. The new superintendent would be hired with a start date for the upcoming school year.
