All Things Art

The art community in Marblehead has a new gallery.
On Oct. 12, Lynnette Hill Saucedo started “All Things Art,” a studio and art gallery where the works of 22 artists from Northwest Ohio are on display. “I have been told starting a business is baptism by fire,” Saucedo said. “It is.
Most of the surprises have been good. The big thing is to share art with other people” Marblehead is a great community to do just that, she said.
Saucedo leases the space at 413 Main St. from Mercedes Wise, who operates her own summer business there — Miss Mercedes, a Vera Bradley retailer. “In the winter it’s a sign in the window that reads, ‘See you in the summer’” Saucedo said. But not this winter.
Saucedo is using the building as a studio to work on her own art pieces. Wise suggested she use the front of the building for an art gallery. There’s a diverse group of artists represented in the gallery, all of them working in various media: glass, jewelry, watercolor, photography, acrylic paintings and wood sculptures.
Among the artists: Julie Faetanini, Cindi Lotoco Hedden, Joyce Waltz and Carl Ruehle. The art scene in Marblehead has taken off from its beginnings with Richmond Gallery, said Mayor Jackie Bird. “When Mr. (Ben) Richmond started talking about opening his gallery people second guessed him, saying it would not do well in small village of Marblehead” Bird said.
But nay-sayers soon found art thrives in Marblehead.
“We are a unique gem on the peninsula. People who are drawn to this area like to have the opportunity to look at and purchase art,” Bird said.
Saucedo will have to relocate the business before April, when Miss Mercedes reopens.
“Hopefully just down the road,” Saucedo said. “Still staying in Marblehead”
Summer art fairs and art walks are fun, but Sauceo wants to offer art year-round — a place where artists can offer their creations to art lovers no matter what the season.
Art education classes will also be taught at the studio, mostly by Saucedo, who has a bachelor’s degree in art education from the University of Findlay.
