50 years ago, 1963: An 11-year-old Huron girl found an 1895 $20 gold piece. Margaret Wechter, fifth grade, saw something shiny while walking through a corn field. The coin was believed to be a collector's item worth at least $35.
25 years ago, 1988: In a curious blend of pomp and secrecy the Air Force unveiled its Stealth bomber at a tightly orchestrated roll-out ceremony. The $500 million plane, designed to be near-invisible to radar, looked like a remarkably thin boomerang with three bulges on top.
10 years ago, 2003: Vandalism to more than a dozen cars prompted some neighbors to organize informal watch groups. The windows of at least 16 vehicles parked along Central Avenue, Carr Street and Campbell Street were smashed. Nothing was reported missing.
