Motorcyclist injured in U.S. 224 crash

Shawna Crooks, 23, struck the motorcyclist at about 11:40 a.m. near Willard, according to the news release. The motorcyclist, Joseph Mitchell, 49, of Greenwich, was westbound on U.S. 224, near Ohio 61, when Crooks pulled her 2002 Ford Ranger into his path.

The crash ejected Mitchell from his motorcycle, causing serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to the new release. He was initially transported to Mercy Willard Hospital by ambulance and was later flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Mitchell was wearing a helmet during the crash.

Crooks was cited for failing to yield from a private drive. She was wearing her seat belt and was not injured.
