Fall festival this weekend

Whether you’re seeking fun or frights, an upcoming fall festival should satisfy your cravings.

The best part: Almost all the events are free. Hayrides, petting zoos and a spooky prison hike are just some of the offerings at this weekend’s Harvest Happenings, hosted by Erie MetroParks.

The park district’s employees and volunteers will also provide exhibits to educate children about nature. Among the new additions this year:

A 5K run and walk around the Osborn MetroPark trail. “Harvest Happenings is a celebration of Erie County’s strong agricultural heritage,” Erie MetroParks commissioner Kurt Landefeld said.
