50 years ago, 1963: Direct from New York, teen idol Mack Vickery and his sensational Twist Band was to play at the Peppermint Lounge. Wild Bill Emerson on guitar, Jimmy on drums, Bashful Beauford Moore on Bass. Dancing 8:45-12:45.
25 years ago, 1988: The man who stole the Lone Ranger's six guns was sentenced to spend 600 hours cleaning the Houston Police horse stables as part of a 10-year probation. At the rate of 20 hours a month, the thief could spend years shoveling manure.
10 years ago, 2003: A Lima dentist offered a $100 reward for the return of a giant 14-foot red wooden toothbrush. The dentist used it as a yard sign for over 20 years. The brush weighed between 80 and 100 pounds.
