50 years ago, 1963: The Welfare Department announced that the controversial drug Krebiozen had been indentified as an inexpensive chemical which was found to be ineffective in treating cancer, not the wonder care-cure it was promised to be.
25 years ago, 1988: Florida reopened its first 'gator season in 26 years. The 30-day harvest was opened to only trained and licensed trappers in specific areas. An estimated 3,500 alligators would be captured.
10 years ago, 2003: Three men were questioned by Perkins police for killing geese at a Galloway Road subdivision. The men said the developer hired them to shoot the geese because they were eating grass seed.
