A 25-year-old Pennsylvania man is recovering after a suicide attempt Saturday evening in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on East Harbor Road.
Joshua Rockwell suffered severe lacerations to his left arm, Ottawa County Sherif Steve Levorchick said. He was holding a bloody knife as he began asking people to call 911.
Rockwell, a military veteran, was in the area for the National shooting matches at Camp Perry.
He was transported from Magruder Hospital to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where staff said Monday morning that Rockwell is stable in good condition.
Levorchick said a friend told deputies that Rockwell had left a note at Camp Perry that could be thought of as a suicide note. The friend also said Rockwell has attempted suicide previously.
