50 years ago, 1963: The Car Coddler’s Club of Sandusky shared enthusiasm over antique autos. Searching out and rebuilding outmoded means of transportation built before World War II was their hobby. Ed Simmans drove a steam-propelled 1902 Grout, Larry Porter shared his collection of antique Fords, including a 1904 Model B.
25 years ago, 1988: Four area banks confirmed they were each financing 25 percent of the $170,000 being used to purchase The State Theatre, 107 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Society Bank, Citizens Bank, Toledo Trust Co. and Third National Bank were all taking part in the financing, according to bank officials.
10 years ago, 2003: Megan McCormick, senior at St. Mary Central Catholic High School, received an Imagine American Scholarship. The honor was awarded to students who showed promise in their field. McCormick was to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to study culinary arts.
