50 years ago, 1963: The Western Security Bank offered a new drive-in banking service at its Columbus Avenue and Sandusky Plaza locations. Touted as a solution to weather and parking problems, the addition was sure to be a real convenience.
25 years ago, 1988: Television evangelist Jimmy Swaggart was defrocked for refusing to accept the punishment of the Assemblies of God Church for his association with a prostitute, but the disgraced preacher vowed to return to the pulpit in May.
10 years ago, 2003: Curt Peacock, a Janotta & Herner employee from Bellevue, won first place in the Metal Buildings Division of the ABC National Craft Olympics in San Diego. The two-day competition tested on steel erection, contracting safety and other areas.
