Sandusky police arrested two men Saturday morning after a foot pursuit.
Officer Sean Orman attempted to stop a white Oldsmobile with four men inside on Barker Street, near Pearl Street. Two men bolted from the car and Orman ran after them.
Orman wrote in a report that he saw one of the men with what appeared to be a small caliber pistol, in his right hand.
Orman said as he approached the backyard of 1715 Barker St. his portable radio fell from its holster and began to wrap around his legs. Not knowing where the other person was or if he also had a firearm, Orman stopped the foot chase.
“I advised the other units of the firearm on the radio,” Orman wrote. He went back to the car where Demarriay Fuller, 22, 2200 block Fallen Timber Drive, and Zafar Cleaf, 23, 400 block Scott St., remained. There was an odor of marijuana in the car, Orman wrote.
Orman asked Fuller and Cleaf who the other two men were, but they denied knowing them.
“They both claimed they only used them for a ride,” Orman wrote.
A search of the car turned up ammunition under the rear left seat. Another officer found a small.25-caliber pistol next to a tree in a backyard. Fuller and Cleaf were charged with obstructing official business. Judge Erich O’Brien authorized police to hold the men in the Erie County jail without bond.
