A Bellevue woman and her boyfriend went to the Cinemark Stadium behind the mall at about 10:42 p.m., but found the theater closed when they walked up to the door, according to a Perkins police report.

As they turned to walk away, Eugene Mcglinchy, 51, of Clyde, asked the couple if the theater was closed.

When they told him it was, he grabbed onto the woman’s purse and told her to give him her money, according to the report.

The woman managed to hold onto her bag as her boyfriend tried to stop Mcglinchy. She let go of her purse, but Mcglinchy latched onto her until her boyfriend took him to the ground.

When Mcglinchy wouldn’t let go of the purse, the victim’s boyfriend punched him in the face.

Perkins police spotted and detained Mcglinchy when they arrived at the theater and saw he was wet and bloody.

He told police three men beat him in the woods, but the victim and her boyfriend said he was the man who attacked them.

Police arrested him on robbery and theft charges, and he remained at the jail Sunday in lieu of $12,870 bond.
