The governor issued an executive order on Dec. 21 to provide an additional $1 million in funding for Ohio's food banks.
Julie Chase-Morefield, executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, estimated that her agency will get 4 percent to 4 1/2 percent of the $1 million, about $40,000 to $45,000.
Much of that additional money will be used to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, she said.
