A Wisconsin man, Armando F. Flores Deleon, 33, is accused of possessing the marijuana, which was concealed as wrapped Christmas presents.

Troopers stopped a 2005 BMW X3 with an Illinois registration for a marked lanes violation on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 139 outside Elyria late Thursday morning. Troopers observed "criminal indicators" and called in a drug-sniffing dog, which alerted to the vehicle.

Breaking with Christmas tradition, the troopers decided to open the wrapped packages early, discovering the bundles of marijuana.

Flores Deleon was charged with possession of marijuana, a third-degree felony, and booked into the Lorain County jail. He faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
