“We’ve shaken up Water Street, now we’re going to shake up Market Street,” Anderson said. “We had five great years on Water Street.”
As Erik’s Clothing enters a new phase, it’s donning a new store, a new clothing line and a new logo.
Anderson is currently renovating the new shop at 125 W. Market St., the former Dancers Bag. He plans to open the doors before November.
The renovation includes new flooring, new rest rooms, and preparing a back room for custom tailoring.
While it’s a smaller space, Anderson said he’s excited about what he can do with it.
“It’s a new project,” he said.
Once finished, the new Erik’s Clothing digs will boast a vintage, New England cottage sort of ambiance. That should go a long way in complementing the new clothing lines, such as Rodd & Gunn and Bills Khakis.
“Rodd & Gunn is very exclusive, very rustic,” Anderson said. “And Bills Khakis is made in the United States.”
The new location is just across the street from the county garage, which offers ample parking. Also, a few doors down is J Bistro, one of downtown’s more upscale restaurants.
All this, of course, is perfect for Anderson’s clientele.
Anderson said he chose to leave the old spot because the landlord wanted to sell the building.
He’s now looking forward to becoming the “Mayor of Market Street.”
