Judge rules Adelman firing should stand

While poking a few holes in the issue, a visiting judge in Huron County Common Pleas Court ultimately upheld Willard Schools' decision to fire food services supervisor Melodie Adelman.

Cuyahoga County Judge Thomas Pokorny said the school board didn't have enough evidence to prove some causes for firing Adelman, but it did have sufficient evidence to back other allegations.

The school board fired Adelman on Sept. 13, after she'd been suspended without pay since May 2010.

The district's decision preceded the release of a state audit in October, which showed Adelman used taxpayer money to purchase $72,000 in food and beverages without reimbursing the district, a Willard Schools attorney said.
