Weeds, dandelions and tall grass have overrun the 65-acre cemetery Oakland Cemetery on Milan Road in Perkins Township.
The thick, tall blades even cloaked several small burial markers, making it almost impossible to detect them from a few feet away.
Rampant rainfall is the major reason the lawn has run amok at the city-owned property, cemetery manager Dan Hedberg said.
The cemetery staff consists of two full-timers and two part-timers. City officials also chose not to fill a position left vacant by a worker who retired a few years ago.
"We just don't have enough people out here," said Chaz Kneer, a ground maintenance employee.
