Family: Man shot by deputies was murdered

Bryan Jones, 26, was out of work, he couldn't see his 5-year-old son, and he abused alcohol to deal with his problems.

The young man had been on a two-day drinking binge when -- fed up -- his father called the sheriff's department at 9:46 p.m. Sunday.

Roof collapses, one dead, three injured at Fremont Company

A roof collapse at a Fremont sauerkraut company Wednesday left one man dead and three others injured. 

Nate Kern, 35, of Gibsonburg, died when a portion of the roof over the “cooking room” at The Fremont Company suddenly caved at about 1:40 p.m., police said.

The new Shoot the Rapids water ride finally began, after several weeks of delay while Cedar Point officials fixed the ride's problems.

The first riders were 24 people who bid in a Red Cross charity auction for the privilege.
