Richard "Dick" Sterrett, age 74, of Vermilion, died Thursday at Community Health Partners in Lorain. He was born on March 21, 1936 in Killbuck, Ohio and lived in Vermilion his whole life. He was a graduate of Vermilion High School. He owned and operated Vermilion Engineering. Dick helped make the signs for Jacobs Field, Browns Stadium, and the 21st Street Bridge in Lorain. He built VECO "Kishman Fish Company" Boats, and did a lot of community work for the City of Vermilion. He enjoyed bowling and bowled a perfect game and was an avid outdoorsman and gardener.

He is survived by three daughters Tammy (John) Perry, of Vermilion, Deborah (Timothy) Hill, of Grafton, and Sharon (Tom) Stehley, of Vermilion, six grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Gordon, Bethany Marie Hill, Timothy Joseph "Joe" Hill II, James Richard Hill, Jeremy Thomas Stehley and fiancee Genevieve Mercer, Anthony Richard Stehley, three great-grandchildren, Lillian Grace Gordon, Memphis Rayne Gordon, and Aydenn Stehley and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Marilyn (Schuh), his parents, Walter and Edith (Hathaway) Sterrett and a son in infancy.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Peaks Cemetery on Darrow Road near Berlin Heights. Immediately following the grave side services everyone is invited to the Berlin Heights Conservation Club, on Chapin Road for lunch and fellowship.
