Poll: Santorum jumps in front of Romney in Ohio
Feb 15
2012
A new poll shows Rick Santorum edging ahead of Mitt Romney in Ohio.
The Quinnipiac University poll out Wednesday finds Santorum jumping to the lead with Ohio voters just three weeks before the Republican presidential primary.
The former Pennsylvania senator leads Romney 36-29 percent among likely primary voters.
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich was third with 20 percent.
A Quinnipiac poll released last month had the former Massachusetts governor Romney well ahead of Santorum. But that was before Santorum's sweep in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri last week.
The latest telephone survey interviewed 553 likely Republican voters over the past week and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

Goof - although there are interesting things on the candidates web sites - it is not nearly what it should be. There is about as much back-biting on there as there is in public and during debates.
The debates are the same thing - every candidate doesn't nothing but talk about he being the only one that can beat Obama. Not sure that's enough for me. What will they do differently and how will they accomplish that? Those are the things they should be talking about - maybe then they can objectively discuss between them what will or will not work in their plans. All talk with nothing to back it up - it's the only thing I hear on the debates.
I'm sorry if you just blindly follow them to the slaughter house without questioning anything they say.
And I'm really tired of hearing how Romney single handedly saved the Olympics in SLC. If that is his only claim to fame, I'm not sure it qualifies as a Presidential Candidate. And everyone also needs to remember that Massachusetts is known for it's high taxes at every turn. And their fees on top of the taxes is even more to be concerned about. I don't remember Romney talking about fixing any of that while he was Governor.

I don't know the true amount!!!! Under Clinton the state quarters were introduced. Whe people started hoarding these state quarters the government mint might just as well been stamping wooden nickles. The were huge amounts of money that people were buying with good curency and not having the quarters in circulation. As the times have increasingly been harder more of these quarters are being spent. I remember a couple decades back when it was said that the US monetary system would really be stressed if erveryone would suddenly take all their pennies to the bank. I really don't know the impact the state quarters would have on the Federal Reserve, it couldn't be good!

I completely agree on what you said about politicians having two priorities - unfortunately both sides are guilty of this one. It would be nice though if some of those republicans would stop trying to eliminate one another and just openly explain how they intend to do all they claim they will do and let us decide which method we want things to be handled by.
It would be easier to forget the past if the past wasn't affecting the future so much. I agree that we can't do anything abou tthe past, but until the past mistakes are dealt with, nothing in the future is going to change very much, and that includes what Obama did in the past as well as those before him.
The only thing from the past that would be good would be to do things the way Clinton did and actually come up with a plan to really fix the debt and get another surplus back. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the surplus happening again for a good many years no matter who is in office.
The best thing is still vote everyone out of office for 6 years and you will have a whole new fresh bunch to do something - the down side is that they will still be politicians working for their own agendas and mostly for those rich and big business people who can benefit them the best.
Laws which effect the politician's bankroll will never be past so it's truely hard to get anything done to benefit the public in general until there are some real changes made in congress - afterall - this is where the laws begin and they CAN fix this mess if they really wanted to - every single one of them.

Sandusky Steve,
I have to agree on past Czars but how many was enough. O'Bama promised less government. My facts are straight, Bush didn't declare War on Iraq, Congress did. This is suppose to be how it's done but not by O'Bama, he's above Congress. Let's forget the past, Water over the dam, to say, what can be done right now to help[ the gas prices. If he declared war on Afghanistan, which He did without congressional approval, Agree to the oil pipeline from Canada. Just because I don't like O'Bama, don't assume I liked or approved of Bush, I don't like and didn't like, nor did I vote for Bush either time, father or son. I don't like this guy and probably won't vote for a president but I will vote. I will not waste my time on a Liberal, they don't have a snowballs chance and I don't vote for anyone who is running un-opposed. That shows approval and I don't like or trust politicians. They have two priorities: Number "ONE" get elected--Number "TWO" get re-elected!

EZOB - let's not forget previous "czars" from previous POTUSs
We can start with Tom Ridge if you would like. And let us not forget the lack of organization and utter disasterous policies from that POTUS concerning Hurricane katrina.
You want to know who it was that supported Obama? Those who were completely screwed by Bush - that's who.
Dems want to blame everything that Obama has had to deal with on Bush and unfortunately, the GOP wants to blame everything that Bush did on Obama. Everyone needs to step back a little and actually examine the policies of BOTH presidents - and yours eyes may be opened.
It is most unfortunate that the voters are exactly like those who get elected. There is no bi-patisonship anyplace. Each side just gets further over to their side - in other words. the left keeps going farther left (due to the right) and the right keeps going farther to the right (due to the left). And neither the politicians on either side nor the voters on either side are interested in working together to figure out exactly what the right path is to take to get this mess fixed.
I am looking at this objectively and it appears that the left has gone so far left and the right has gone so far right - that they have met up on the other side of the globe - but unfortunately they never meet in their minds - so nothing will ever get done but a bunch of blaming each other. WAKE UP AMERICA!
The best thing that could happen in this election is for another democrat WHO IS NOT A POLITICIAN run against Obama. Maybe there would be someone worthy of becoming POTUS at this point in time. Stop electing politicians and millionaires to the office. They don't work.

heycaptainjohn - a few comments on what you said. First, yes I have received calls from pollsters.
second - was it really Obama that gave us to China? If I remember right, China is who paid for the Iraq War - and the start of borrowing the funds for the war from China was also Bush.
And exactly how are gas prices obama's fault? yes, it's a big export right now - but why? Because the Oil companies are exporting it. The oil companies are keeping our gas prices high - not obama. Obama is just as much to blame for gas prices as individual states are. What the oil companies should be doing is refusing to export and lower the prices so that Americans can afford to buy it.
Talk about not understanding economy - all business - especially tourism is down due to high gas prices. If the oil companies would lower the cost of gas, it woul dincrease sales right here in our country and people would again travel - putting money back into OUR economy.

Doesn't really matter which candidate we nominate in the primary. The convention will be a disorganized nightmare and when we finally have a Republican candidate they will have been torn apart so much within the party that it will be almost impossible to run them in a national campaign against Obama. We are stuck with another four years of the worst president since Hoover and another major depression. It's time to look forward to higher unemployment, $10 a gallon gasoline and milk and even more foreclosures. At least Obama has a house to live in for a little while longer.

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.
"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be an Obama Democrat."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

Fascinating to hear Origen/Goofus and others speak of GOP candidates being Democrats, policy-wise. Just goes to show you how far to the Extreme Right that the GOP has shifted, thanks to the radical wing of the party (Tea Party). What is more fascinating is to realize that Origen/Goofus don't realize that 90% of Americans don't see things the way they do. Required reading for anyone who agrees with Origen/Goofus: an article on today's cnn.com home page: Obama Approval Rating Up; GOP Enthusiasm Down.
Origen did make one good point: many Democrats were unhappy with Obama during the first part of his term. He tried to do the right thing by meeting the GOP halfway on every issue, as promised during the election. Unfortunately, Repubs didn't do their part and refused to budge one inch on anything. To Dems surprise, Obama often capitulated (extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich is the example that made us most unhappy). Thankfully, by the 3rd year of his Term, Obama realized that the only way to play ball with the GOP is to play things exactly as they do: don't compromise, and simply do what you think is best for the country.
It's very amusing for we Dems to see that it's finally working. To everyone's surprise, GOP did finally compromise on tax cuts this past week. Of course, it IS an election year, and they apparently finally realized that a majority of Americans were unhappy with GOP policies. So, I must disagree with Origen: from where we Dems sit, Obama on his worst day is STILL a better alternative to anything Repubs have to offer. Next time I want to start another worldwide recession and get dozens of countries ticked off at us because of our warmongering, and kill our own economy by giving tax cuts to the rich and then involve our troops in 2 unfunded wars, then - and only then - would I vote Republican. Until then, I consider it my job to save America from people like Goofus & Origen - and the candidates they promote.

I cannot wait to see their convention. That should be a three ring circus including clowns and popcorn. Wow....is Taxpayer going????? I would LOVE to see that. He can be the guest blow-hard on liberalism
This just proves that again, the Republican party can't decide within their own rank and file what to do. The old school and the moderates must be tearing each others hair out by the roots about now, while the new schoolers are using loving care to color their premature grays.
Who is on first, what is on second and I don't know is on third. Where this will all go is anyone's guess and in the meantime we still have 0bama as taxpayer refers to him.
And I thought maybe, just maybe, this year would be differernt for the republicans until blowheard, bloated Gigrich decided to run AGAIN. Just proved my point.....they haven't anyone worth running and some things never change in that party. They just don't get it and never well.

Actually, the Elephant in the Room that none of the conservatives here want to discuss is the fact that a huge portion of Republicans don't like any of the GOP nominees. For them, the "Anyone But Obama" movement doesn't work, because they think even less of the GOP candidates. We're already seeing the results of this: voting is WAY down in nearly every state for 2012 Republican primaries. These are people who voted Republican in 2008 who simply won't vote on election day 2012.
It's funny to see the utter desparation in the posts of some of the conservatives here - some are almost frenzied. Hey, I know just how you feel. In 2004, we Dems couldn't believe that our country would even consider giving W another four years. He won because the Dems nominated a lackluster candidate, who had a little bit of baggage, and was unable to get his constituency fired up. Sounds exactly like the 2012 Republican crop of candidates to me...
Like Goofus, I don't really care who the GOP nominates. They each have substantial baggage which makes them unelectable to a sizable portion of Americans. A skilled orator like Obama, who slam-dunked McCain in the 2008 debates, will have a field day with this year's candidate. It'll be like shooting fish in a barrel, ya know? :)
