Flagpoles to go up where OH courthouse comes down

A set of flagpoles will be installed at the site in northwest Ohio where a more than 125-year-old county courthouse is coming down.
Seneca County Commissioner Dave Sauber told a veterans group on Monday that the three poles will be for an American flag, an Ohio flag and a POW/MIA flag.
The (Toledo) Blade reports that the United Veterans Council was concerned about whether it would be able to continue a tradition during the annual Memorial Day parade in Tiffin. Veterans pause to raise and lower a flag on the courthouse grounds.
Sauber says he'll seek funding for the flag project from local service groups.
A wrecking crew began demolishing the courthouse on Jan. 9. The Advertiser-Tribune of Tiffin reports the work was 75 percent complete as of early Tuesday.

Can anyone tell me if any of the other 87 counties in Ohio have torn down their "original" old court house? I'll admit I do not know much about the one in Tiffin as far as the financial aspects of having kept it useful but....logic tells me that there is the possibility that maybe it shoudn't have been destroyed. Whatever the case may be..."now it's too late". I hope this trend does not continue and if there aren't any really good fiscal reasons for its destruction...then heads should roll and civil suits filed.

This area of the US, unlike the East Coast states, does not value quality construction as seen in these beautiful stone structures. What will eventually be built to replace it will be a building with a projected lifespan of 30 to 40 years!!! "You don't know what you've got till it's gone"!!!!!!!!!!!
