Fire damages storage units off Butler Street

At least 22 self-storage units on Butler Street suffered smoke, fire and water damage Sunday afternoon.

Sandusky's acting fire chief, Paul Ricci, said firefighters had the blaze out shortly before 5 p.m.

Eleven separate units were involved, but they were shared "split" units, Ricci said.

A fire at D.R. Walcher Farms, which ignited around noon, blackened the sky for miles as dozens of firefighters fought the blaze.

Personnel from the Fairfield, New London, Willard and Tri-County fire departments worked to extinguish the barn fire that threatened several adjoining structures.

UPDATE: Woman charged with arson in late-night fire

A fire blazing through a Lawrence Street home late Friday night was no accident.

Glinda Branham, 44, 1800 block Superior St., was charged with aggravated arson and disorderly conduct for setting fire to a home on 230 Lawrence St.

Branham admitted, by screaming repeatedly at Sandusky Police officers, she started the fire. Branham also shouted profanities toward officers.
