The city demolished his Madison Street home years ago. But Jack Huber, the homeowner, still owed $27,000 in back taxes. So the city offered him a deal: Give the property to the city's land bank program, and in return, his taxes will be forgiven. Huber seemed interested. He signed a document giving Sandusky workers permission to survey his property.

Ohio Bike Week will once again roar into town June 4. But it's been the quiet, persistent support by the business community that's helped make this year's event viable. And Ohio Bike Week's chief organizer, Steve Ernst, says he's confident it will return in 2011.

Mabel M. (Soule) Hunter, 96, of Sandusky passed away early Saturday morning, May 22, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Maynard J. Nielsen, 83, Sandusky, died late Thursday afternoon, May 20, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Hayes Avenue resembled a pinballgame Thursday afternoon with a multi-vehicle crash amid the construction cones. Roger James, 57, 200 block E. Market St., drove the wrong way down the street in an Astro van and hit two vehicles just outside the south campus of Firelands Regional Medical Center. Police said he narrowly missed two other vehicles.

Cedar Fair has eased the burden of its crushing $1.5 billion in debt with a new refinancing package that gives itself several more years to pay it off. The company announced Thursday it will issue $500 million of senior unsecured notes. The notes, similar to bonds, will pay interest to its investors and will come due in 2020.

SANDUSKY Sandusky police are investigating a suspected stabbing that occurred Thursday evening in an apartment at 3205 W. Monroe St. They were called out to Apartment 2, in a small complex with two wooden sail boats on the front of the building and the waters of Sandusky Bay visible from the back door.

Frederick Karl "Bud" Krause, 70, Sandusky, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
