People, including his own family, seemed to think John C. O'Reilly was a simple fellow who kept to himself, there in his trailer in Bayshore Estates. Then his trailer burned New Year's morning, and John C. O'Reilly died. Sorting through what was left behind, his family found papers, books and other signs of the trail O'Reilly's mind blazed through his own universe.

Louis M. Youskievicz, 70, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, June 3, 2010, in Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.

A Sandusky man who stabbed his girlfriend was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison as part of a plea agreement. Shawn Shepherd, 39, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault, in exchange for Erie County prosecutors dismissing charges of attempted murder and domestic violence.

The hits just keep coming. Five Sandusky employees received layoff notices Thursday, and city leaders said they'll be laying off a sixth employee next week. That would bring Sandusky's total layoffs this year to about 25.
