Kenneth E. Riedy, March 17, 1926-Dec. 23, 2011

Kenneth E. Riedy, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully at home Friday afternoon, DEC. 23, 2011, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 17, 1926, in Sandusky, son of the late Victor G. and Esther M. (Mantey) Riedy. Ken was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School and was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Ken was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He retired from Chesapeake Paper Company in Sandusky after 40 years of service.

He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Ken is survived by his wife Geraldine K. (Voegle) Riedy, whom he married Sept. 4, 1948; three daughters, Kathleen (Craig) Bowie of Oregon, Ohio, Beverly (Keith) King of Fremont and Susan (David) Boehmer of Dublin, Ohio; six grandchildren, Sarah Bowie, Melissa Bowie, Emily Bowie, Kyle King, Katie Boehmer and Brooke Boehmer; two sisters, Beatrice Riedy of Sandusky and Carol Marksbury of Monroeville; two brothers, Cyril Riedy of Canton, Mich., and Gerald Riedy of Norwalk; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Including his parents, Ken was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Agnes Keegan and Sr. Mary Carolanne, SND.; and one brother Richard Riedy.

There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Nuss will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, Sandusky, are handling arrangements.
