Irene V. (Leidorf) Sanders, May 25, 1928-Dec. 12, 2011

Irene V. (Leidorf) Sanders, 83, of Sandusky, passed away late Monday evening, Dec. 12, 2011, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 25, 1928, in Venice, Ohio, daughter of the late Louis and Rosa (Hasley) Leidorf. She was a graduate of Margaretta High School. Irene had worked at Sandusky Laundry Mat and did volunteer work at Providence Hospital and for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Irene is survived by her daughters, Sharon R. “Sherry” (David E.) Clark, Rosemary E. “Rosey” Brewer, June I. (Dan) Leber, all of Sandusky; two sons, Chuck J. (Rose) Sanders of Bay View and Raymond D. Sanders of Sandusky; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister Judy (Jack) MacGregor of Sandusky; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law John Kinn of Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Sanders on April 2, 1965; a daughter in infancy Jessica Sanders; son Jeffrey J. Sanders; her parents; and seven sisters and a brother.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Nuss will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
