William H. Herner, May 27, 1938-Dec. 6, 2011

William H. Herner, 73, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

William was born May 27, 1938, son of the late Gilbert and Louise (Claus) Herner. He retired after many years of service from Wasnick Construction Co., specializing in masonry work.

William was a member of the Norwalk and Sandusky posts of the American Legion and Sandusky Eagles. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, playing dartball, softball, and especially enjoyed spending time with his friends throughout the day.

William is survived by his daughter Billie Jo Mortensen of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Magnus Mortensen and Javyn Mortensen; three brothers, David (Peggy) Herner, Fred Herner and Tom (Ann) Herner, all of Norwalk; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

William was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Brown) Herner n 2006, and his parents.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, until prayers at 12:30 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Jason Kahle will officiate.
