A longtime Erie County elected official — mired in controversy for failure to fulfill campaign promises and often missing work because of illnesses — has resigned from office.

Barb Johnson, the county's clerk of courts since 1988, plans to step down Oct. 31, said Yvette Rankins, the departments' deputy director.

It's unknown who will fill Johnson's spot.

Had Barb Johnson not been on medical, the magistrate of Binette's court in 2007 never would have gotten away with instructing the Clerk of Courts to send a Judgment Entry pertaining to a hearing that was held without notifying all the parties, which is ILLEGAL, to an INCORRECT ADDRESS when the Clerk of Courts had the party's CORRECT ADDRESS on file. Which means the Common Pleas Court then never would have gotten away with sitting on the returned Judgment Entry for 26 days, knowing that one only has 30 days to file an appeal.

Had Barb Johnson not been on medical, a dirty Cleveland attorney never would have gotten away with transferring the money from an invalid court-ordered SCAM sheriff sale over to the Clerk of Courts WITHOUT A COURT ORDER, so the joke Courts could sit on the money for over two years until Johnson, back from medical leave, discovered it and transferred it back to the Sheriff's department so the joke common pleas and probate court could continue to play their high-school thug games and sit on it for ANOTHER year.

Had Johnson not been on medical, a dirty Lorain County attorney never would have gotten away in 2008 with filing a joke Summary Judgment with half the documents missing that he claimed were included. I believe the standard procedure for that is ---- the Clerk of Courts contacts the attorney about the "missing documents." If the attorney does not fax the "missing" documents over, then the Clerk of Courts notes in the file what documents are "missing" before sending it to the Common Pleas Court. The Clerk of Courts sure didn't make any notes of the documents that were "missing" in that joke Summary Judgment.  (one of the documents "missing" was a forged POA filed in Lorain County that the attorney claimed in the joke Summary Judgment was on file in the Erie County Recorder ---- but the joke Courts knew it wasn't, anyway)

Some of those employees in the Clerk of Courts have been there for YEARS and YEARS --- and they didn't know how to do their job unless Barb Johnson was watching over them 24/7?  Yeah, right. People beeched and moaned about Barb Johnson ---- just wait until you see what goes on with the next one --- one that you can bet has already been HAND-PICKED.

I don't personally know Barb Johnson but I did talk to her several times. I also came away with the impression that out of all the public officials in Erie County, she was the ONLY one that could be trusted. (not so for her employees --- one, anyway) I also found that removejohnson blog odd. Had anybody ever started a blog on Baxter or the other ones they probably would have been dragged off to corrupt Cuyahoga County so the clown judge Shirley Saffold ~ better known now as "lawmiss" ~ could throw them in the clink for 8 years like they did Elsebeth Baumgartner!

( Hey attorney Buff --- one of the stories I read on Baumgartner said she made the threat that she was going to expose the Cuyahoga County judicial system. She never got the chance --- but the FEDS sure are doing a good job of it! )

Ugh, knock it off, Barb.  We all know what your illness is; you're sick of all that darn pressure to do the work for which you are paid.  What a horrible thought, I know.  In addition, don't try to pretend like you don't know a historical quote when you see one; besides, the word's censored in blacktigress' version.

Your post gets a 0/10.  Troll harder.

It's not suprising that the Register would allow a post to be on this site that has the "N" word in it.  The Register is racist and this is proof!!!  It's amazing that so many people derive pleasure from someone else's pain.  It's obvious that Mrs. Johnson stepped down due to being ill...so sad that your lives are so empty that all you can say are nasty, ugly remarks.  God Bless you!

Make no mistake, if another liberal democratic black runs for office they WILL be voted in, as long as they are liberal democrats. Most of my friends and relatives are racial when it comes to voting, not knowing that Martin Luther King was a REPUBLICAN and many others are switching over to conservative standing.

I suppose this sums up what the REAL liberal Democrats think about us Blacks.

As a person, Ms, Johnson was always nice to me.  As an elected democrack, liberal. politician, her performance was dismal to say the least.  Hmm, I wonder what other liberal, socialist politician fits this template?  The records have been allowed to be "archived" in different locations for decades.  It will be a monumental task just to find ALL the records, organize them, and place them on-line.  It will take MILLIONS of tax dollars to do it because all the budget money from the previous terms was WASTED.  Got money?  I hope Ms. Johnson well in her health issues.  She did the honorable thing and resigned.  I wonder WHY liberal, democrack Erie County is a FAILURE when it comes to on-line court records?  Can any of you crybaby liberals in the democrack party explain that?  It must be the BLAME of Bush!  Now, WHO will be selected to clean this up?  Or, will a democrack minion be selected to stay on the liberal dole of entitlements so someone else can take care of it DECADES later?  Don't like that?  Let's review.  Since 1988 equates to TWENTY-THREE years of total county government FAILURE!  So, what is another twenty years of FAILURE to maintain court records?  How about it?  Any of your KIDS up for the job by the time they become eligible?  Ha! Ha!

@ pow wow: I really hope you are wrong. No offense to Ms. Farrar, but how does an activity therapist qualify for clerk of courts. She is lucky to qualify to be a city commissioner.

According to the Sandusky City website:

From 2004 - 2007, Julie served on the Sandusky Board of Education.  She holds a Certification from North Central Technical College in activity therapy and is employed by the Ohio Veterans Home [Disclaimer] as an Activity Therapist.

I would like to see ALL records online. Like that fraud quitclaims deed filed in the Erie County Recorder's office (Document # 200202036) that was prepared by a Lorain County attorney who falsely stated a couple of frauds from Huron were the attorneys-in-fact for an elderly person that was in the end stages of Alzheimers only a short time before her death. The one that also falsely states that a forged POA concealed in the Lorain County Recorder's office (#2001-797968) is on file in the Erie County Recorder's office. I would also like to see the FRAUD Transfer on Death that was prepared right after (#200202037) online  ---- the one that DEFRAUDED the incompetent person's 4th beneficiary.

I think people should be able to view these documents just to see how easy it is in corrupt Erie County for attorneys and others ~ including crooks from financial institutions ~ to criminally defraud the elderly.

Someone with legal experience? Like maybe that JOKE with legal experience that tried to say a recorder of a county is required by law to file everything attorneys give her to file, no matter how untrue, incorrect and fraudulent she knows the filings to be?

Should we place bets that Tom Paul is going to be the chosen one?  How about someone with some legal experience instead!

So if they ever get records online will it be ALL records or will certain records be concealed from public view like the Erie County Recorder's office does?

Hey, here's a crazy progressive thought....get someone in there who can get the docket on-line!  What is the actual reason your county is the last known county on Earth to not have their public records available on-line?

Sam Adams got it right.  I hope the Democratic Party Central Committee gets it right this time.  They have backed Barb Johnson for many elections and for each term she did less and less.  The office runs like it's back in the 1970's.
