@Truth or Dare........................It does go on for a time. A young gal with the same first name as my youngest daughter was arrested a while back, the first and last last names were spelled differently than my daughters, and I heard about that over and over. Not the papers fault, but my own sister called to tell me all about my daughter being in trouble........DUH.

Hopefully this will all clear up for you and your family.

Hey Sash:    We could write a letter to the Forum.    Do ya suppose they'll print it?  It can be done  w/o cursing.  Maybe picketing outfront on the City sidewalk could/would help?  I suppose you would  need some kind of  permit?  Wonder if the City would issue one?    Don't think it isn't a serious thought, as this is a serious matter!  Do ya suppose a Reporter from the SR would cover it, fairly, in an unbiased manner? 

Hey NineMM:  Thank you for understanding!  Nothing has been fixed, and we are seeing /feeling the repercussions!   Have been since the article was printed!  Threatening phone calls from family memebers of the actual owner of the vehicle (never mind the fact he loaned the vehicle to someone w/no operator's  liscense and was highly intoxicated),  calls from W.T. Realty , the owner of the Apt. Complex damaged and seeking insurance information to cover the cost, looks from people that we've known for years  as if they'........well, believe everything they read!   "The Power of the Pen", or ink in this situation!  Only in a very negative, defamatory way.

@Truth or Dare- Thanks for the clarification. Busy week and I only skimmed the print edition. I thought I'd missed something or mixed up stories. You're right about taking each story with a grain of salt. It seems with the 24 hour news cycle in the world today, the rule is to get it out quick rather than get it out right. Corrections are made, but they're usually days later and found on page 6 rather than page 1.

@ Truth or Dare............................Know what you're talking about and feel your pain. The Register hires a lot of interns that are working towards a degree in journalism. For most of them it is just a stepping stone.................Some have the misfortune of actually being hired by SR. Not something I'd want on my resume.

Hey Sash; Please read my first post.    I chose to respond as I did due to Ralphies's comment.   My post has absolutley nothing to do wtith this incident, but another that was written and in Sunday's printed  paper.  I felt it important to use the opportunity  to post regarding our very recent personal experience w/MAJOR ERROS made by not one, but 2 SR Reporters that wrote the article!!!!!!!  I suppose that using the wording "allegedly" should excuse them from such defamatory writings?!   

My point, be very careful in believeing everything that is printed within the SR, don't be so quick to assume it's FACT, especially when they owe it to the Joe Pulic to  have enough PROFFESSIONALISM to not only carefully read a Police Report, but it is also their duty to comprehend/understand  what it is they're  reading let alone writing before going to print!!!!   After all you know what they say, "good luck suing someone that buys ink by the barrels"!!!!

Here is a FACT;  As a citizen, you are entitled to a copy of a Police Report when you ask for it.  However, if that particular incident is still under investigation, or there are corrections too be made, it will not be provided at the time.   Now, if that  report is provided to the SR prior to those corrections, additions, whatever,  we all as citizens have a  BIG PROBLEM here!

Truth or Dare- Sorry, but I'm very confused. The paper version of the paper said that they were all together at the house and had been drinking.  I would assume a small group of people who had been together in a house drinking would know each others names or at least recognize the person they'd been drinking with. The paper also said that the victim fled the house, and witnesses had confirmed that she'd ran out of the house but they didn't know why. I don't understand where the "individual fleeing the scene" came from? Was the accused supposed to have fled the scene after the victim or before?Maybe I missed a following story and the police report? I assume you're also saying that the picture in the paper isn't the accused- do you know who it is then? Could you clarify please?

Hey Ralphie:   I agree, especially the Reporters that are writing the stories that  are printed under what's now "Police and Courts".  After all, "perception is reality",  which by the way folks is a dangerouse train of thought!  See,  when you plaster someone's picture within this paper, accompanied by an  article written regarding a serious crime, and the individual isn't even the one that committed that crime,  nor was there anywhere within a Police Report that stated they did,  but  there was a statement BY THE VICTIM that the individual witnessed fleeing the scene  was no where close to matching  the description of the picture in the paper of   the one "allegedly" accused.............musta missed that statement from the Victim, eh Reporters........must be true if it's in the Register, right?    It's bad enough to be falsley accused, and even worse when  it 's put in print of the largest read paper, Sunday's.  It's probably fair to say the entire reading area will "perceive" it to be true!    PERCEPTION IS REALITY, right?!   That was proved to us when running into someone at the grocery store who would normally stop, speak, carry on a conversation.  Instead, they turned away as they literally stuck their freakin nose in the air. 

FYI:  Not  good folks for the person who was accused by  the SR, let alone their family and their family's business/livilihood, of which also  happens to advertise in the paper.  Too add insult to injury,  is when things like this happen  they won't get a written apology in this paper.  They get a 1.5 inch blurb, stuck in the corner of the paper somewhere, where no one really sees it, under "Corrections".    On that note, DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ WITHIN THIS PAPER, and yes, if the Reporters', especially when 2 are bumping heads and still can't read and comprehend properly, therefore printing a DEFAMAOTRY ARTICLE....... send em back to journalism school!!!!   Better yet, don't allow them to be the one's to go down to the SPD to gather reports for information to print in this paper!
