SANDUSKY
Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit will make its annual stop on Lake Erie starting Friday and going through Sunday.
Downtown Sandusky’s Shelby Street Boat Ramp will host take-offs and weigh-ins. More than 70 professional fishing teams will launch at 7 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. A built-in “blow day” allows for two full days of competition even if foul weather prevents teams from getting out either Friday or Saturday.
The MWC and National Professional Anglers Association will present a free Youth & Family Fishing Clinic immediately after the first day’s weigh-in. Youths receive rods and reels donated by Cabela’s and Berkley, and tackle packages courtesy of Northland Fishing Tackle.
One lucky youth angler will take home a brand-new scooter donated locally by Barnes Wendling CPA’s, of Sandusky, in honor of Chuck Hanck, who is a Sandusky area fisherman with the Western Basin Sportfishing Association, and volunteer coordinator of the Kids Fishing Fun Day presented annually by the City of Sandusky Recreation Division and Erie MetroParks.
The city is seeking volunteers to work shifts for the tournament performing such tasks as inspections, parking and directing traffic, taking photographs, directing anglers to the stage for weigh-in, handing fish baskets to anglers and working the docks. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Judy Nagy via email at jnagy@ci.sandusky.oh.us or leave a detailed phone message including your availability at 419-627-5886. The volunteer shift hours are 5-7 a.m. and 3:15-7 p.m.
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend the weigh-ins each day and cheer on the anglers. Limited seating is available so spectators are advised to bring their own portable chairs.
Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is entering its ninth season as title sponsor of the MWC.

This sounds much more interesting to me than Bike week lol. Nice to see something around town other than people from Michigan going to Cedar Point and bikers watching pudding westleing.
