$300M earmarked for Great Lakes restoration
Dec 27
2010
The tax cut bill and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" garnered much of the publicity in the waning days of Congress, but environmentalists walked off with a victory just before Christmas, too.
In its final days, the Congress approved $300 million for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, money that will be used to help clean up Lake Erie and restore habitat.
Past money was used in part to help clean up beaches along Lake Erie. The money runs only through March, however, and Congress still has to act to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year, through Sept. 30.

It's a start. But you gotta STOP THE POLLUTERS too.
Allowing wholesale pollution is pound-foolish. Polluters save $1 and it cost $100 to clean it up. So corrupt and so stupid. Wise up, voters!

I think the money should sent to help the fight against obama's chicago union port buddies who want to block any slow down with shipping freighters, which has been the battle to stop and help prevent the asian carp. The unions oppose it, saying they don't believe the threats have any consequences. The asian carp get thru??? 10 yrs atmost, lake erie and the recreation as we know it will be over anyways. It will become a national dump. Just my opionon.

I have lived on these lake all my life and yes I would like to see them cleaner then they are .But it makes me wander just how much of that 300 million is really going to go the clean up and how much isnt , and with the amount that is , is it going to really make a dent in it .
I have lived on this lake for most of my life and I can tell yea that things to me sure dont make sense , cause when you really think about it , the only way we are going to clean it up , is if we can get the canada goverment as well as everyone involved with the lake to take and help out by doing what they can across the board, otherwise all we are doing , is cleaning up other countries messes as well as are own
