Dale Earnhardt Jr., "Wheels of Thunder" at Cedar Point
Aug 05
2010
Drivers, start your engines and head to Cedar Point to see NASCAR racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Thursday, Aug. 12.
Dale Jr.'s visit will be just one of the highlights of Cedar Point's third annual "Wheels of Thunder" that will take place Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 10-12.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 10 & 11) and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 12), guests can explore Michigan International Speedway's interactive racing-themed trailer, located on the Main Midway by the Dodgem bumper cars. The trailer will have racing simulators, TVs with race videos, driver suits and helmets and much more! Guests can also check out a Dale Jr. show car that will be on display all three days.
Guests will also have the opportunity to have Dale Jr. answer one of their questions. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, guests can register to have a question answered by Dale Jr. at one of his two public appearances. Six questions will be answered at each appearance. Guests who have their question answered, and a friend will receive a T-shirt, placard and lanyard and the chance to give Dale Jr. a "high-five."
Dale Jr. is scheduled to appear at the Picnic at the Point, held in the Point Pavilion from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12. Guests who attend the picnic will be entered into a drawing for prizes such as an autographed Dale Jr. jacket, a Dale Jr. stand-up, and an autographed "Wrangler" mini-car hood.
Dale Jr. is also scheduled to make an appearance on the Main Midway at approximately 5:30 p.m. Guests whose questions did not get answered will be entered into a drawing to win Dale Jr. prizes and the Michigan
International Speedway Grand Prize which includes two tickets to the CARFAX 400 race, two pre-race pit passes, two credentials to access pre-race ceremonies and two "Cold Garage" access passes.
Also on Thursday, the Goodyear Blimp will be flying over Cedar Point. The five highest bidders in the Firelands Chapter of the Red Cross auction will receive a 30-minute ride on the blimp that flies 1,000 feet above the ground! The fundraiser will run through Monday, Aug. 9, with each of the five winners receiving a blimp ride, a chance to meet and receive an autograph from Dale Jr., and a ride on the Top Thrill Dragster without having to wait.
Those wishing to participate in the auction should visit firelandsredcross.org/ultimateride.

Gene..if you follwed Jr's dad's career you would remember the long drought he went through, heck he even considered quiting racing. Jr is having the same trouble!! It has nothing to do with lack of effort, it's the bad luck..blowing engines, tires and getting caught up in wrecks!! It can happen to any driver. But since he is Dale Sr's son everyone puts extra pressure on him to excell!! I could only imagine what that feels like. True fans will stick with him no matter what!! I just hope CP is ready for the Mass amount of people that will be heading this way to meet him!!! Remember MOST POPULAR driver 7 yrs in a row and that is no fluke!!!

I am glad to see that Jr is coming to town , the only thing is ,,I just wish he could prove me wrong and win a race once in a while ,
And yes i agree that he iis nothin like His father , and may never be unless he puts forth more effert .
We know that he can win races , that is very true , he did in the nationwide race with his dad number three .And I am glad to see that , congrates , to jr on that race .
Now with the season past the half way point , dont yea think its time tio light a fire on that number 88 and get it to victory lane not to mention the chase ? I mean we only have a few rases and I would love to see jr have at least a half a chance to be in it and not like he was last year , on the outside looking in .

Well Crazyaide, I may not be an expert in NASCAR, but I do follow it enough and attend enough races to know that ole JR is just living on his fathers name. If he can't rise to the top with all the $$$ and R&D that Rick Hendrick has to offer, he never will. Reason is, he is not that good. Sure he's popular with the ladies, but that don't win championships. For more of my views, refer my previous comment.

I agree Woody. I am/was a Bill Elliott fan, so never cared much for Dale Sr. But the fact remains the only reason he hasn't been sent back to the minors is his name.

He is not his father's son, he is'nt a quarter of the driver his father was.

3 wins over the last 5 years is not an indication of a GREAT driver. It is an indication of an "also ran"
