SANDUSKY

The man police suspect shot his wife in the arm and then set their Camp Street home on fire has been transferred to Toledo for additional mental evaluation.

Erie County sheriff's deputies transported William White Sr. to Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Systems in Toledo, acting on a court order from the Erie County Probate Court. Such orders are not public records as they involve mental health evaluations, clerks said.

Sandusky police said they are waiting for mental evaluations to charge White, 58, in the shooting of his wife Doris, 56, and the suspected arson at their home early Monday morning.

Doris White was still in fair condition Wednesday afternoon at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
