Bette J. Gaydos, 91, of Port Clinton, passed away Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born June 20, 1919, in Port Clinton, to Edward and Juanita (Crawford) Kohanke. On Dec. 3, 1938, in Marblehead, she married John Gaydos and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1996. Bette was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She had been a member of CIC for many years being involved in the Golferettes. She was an avid bowler and part of the 600 club. She was an avid sports enthusiast, loved music and dancing and was a graduate of Port Clinton High School.
Family includes, children, Judith Ann (Ronald) Sprankle of Crestline, Ohio, Jan E. (Judith Ann) Gaydos of Huron and Jayne Sara (Wavle) Adkins of New Carlisle, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Etta Kohanke; and niece, Debbi Jackson, and nephew, Brad Kohanke.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years; parents, John; and brother, Jack Kohanke.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, where additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at Catawba Island Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Stein Hospice Service, Sandusky.
