Q: What is going in at the old Ponderosa restaurant site on Rt 250? I know the property has been sold. Can you enlighten us? — Kate on 50th St., Sandusky
A: Hi Kate. We checked on the status of this building last summer and learned that the owners of Dianna's Deli had purchased it. At the time they didn't have specific plans on what they would do with the property. I called over to Dianna's today and talked to one of the owners. He said they are considering three options for the old Ponderosa building, but because no decision has been made he didn't want to go into detail. On the plus side, he said something should be nailed down this spring. So stay tuned!

the last time that i ate there was when i got a rotten stinking baked potato. how could anyone miss a rotten potato that was black inside and stunk to high heaven? I should have gotten a free meal because I lost my appetite. I asked for my money back but the manager only wanted to give me another baked potato. i lost my appetite and went home leaving my meal there. that would be like somebody putting feces on my tray and then offered to take the feces away and expected me to finish my meal. who was the previous owner?

Your right about the service. The worst thing was they put the employee break room in the back corner next to where people set and ate. Nothing like taking grandma out to eat and hearing the help talk about their personal life. What a shame it went under. To bad they couldnt hire the foreign kids like cedar point. They had to pick from our finast here in Sandtown.

doppleganger - you really don't HAVE to eat until you can't walk - but eating at a buffet is generally a little cheaper with a much better selection and Dianna's has a reputation for good food to begin with.

The old Ponderosa closed because of the very poor customer service and an owner that didn't care one way or the other about the complaints.
Dianna's should reopen it as a buffet - breakfast, lunch and dinner - there is a real need for something like that in Sandusky as the only thing close is Ryans and they suck - especially if they have to go there on a regular basis. This would be a great addition to eateries in town and the food would be good as well as the service.
