Police investigate burglary try at Perkins Key Bank branch

PERKINS TWP.
Police are trying to determine who attempted an overnight burglary inside the Key Bank branch at 2532 Columbus Ave., near the intersection at Perkins Avenue.
Perkins police received a call at 7:57 a.m. Sunday from a customer using the ATM machine who noticed a window had been broken out on the south side of the building, Sgt. Vincent Donald said.
The Sandusky Police Department sent officers to the scene to help, and officers from the two departments surrounded the building to make sure no one could escape. They determined, however, that no one was inside. A ladder fire truck supplied by Perkins Fire Department helped officers determine no one got inside from the roof.
Someone had pulled a computer monitor, still connected to the computer, through the window.
Donald, a 14-year veteran of the Perkins department, said police saw no signs anyone actually got inside the bank.
"It wasn't big enough of an area for somebody to get through," he said, referring to the broken window. "It doesn't appear that anyone gained entry into the bank. It was just an attempt."
There's lot of traffic in the area, so perhaps the would-be burglar or burglars were scared off, Donald said.
Police hope the security system and video recording system will show when the attempted burglary took place.
Donald said evidence in the case would be turned over to detectives on Monday.

When a bank employee can get away with stealing almost half a million dollars in a seven year period before getting caught maybe it's time to install the alarms INSIDE the bank on the employees computers.

No sensor alarm on the window? They took a computer from the bank. Just how secure are the clients' information with this computer messing?

So a brain surgeon breaks into a bank to steal a computer monitor?? Here is a tip for the Perkins Police and Sgt. Donald. This IS a BURGLARY, NOT an attempted BURGLARY. Once a person forces entry and simply slips their hand through the breakage, it is BURGLARY. Unless this rocket scientist uses telekineses, they reached INSIDE to try and pull the monitor out. Nothing like minimizing a crime so it does not increase the statistics for the department FBI-UCR. I will bet they will simply classify this CRIME as vandalism. Yeah, that will work.

What about the criminal activity that goes on INSIDE the bank? Too bad it didn't happen at the branch in Huron!
