A contractor was taken to the hospital with injuries Thursday afternoon after a scoreboard he was helping to install fell on him at Perkins High School.
Kyle Moore, 23, of Cleveland was standing near the sign along with several workers as a crane hoisted it up at the baseball field. The sign fell to the ground, striking Moore. It weighed at least a ton, officials said.
A Perkins EMS squad took him to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where he was treated in the emergency room Thursday evening, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Moore worked for Cleveland Sign & Construction, a sub-contractor hired to install the sign.
Cleveland-based Sports Equipment Specialists sold the sign to Perkins High School about a month ago.
The cost for the sign and labor to install it was about $20,000, said Scott Cyran, owner of Sports Equipment Specialists.
