Man caught with drugs, weapon tries to flee police

With a little help from the new Perkins police dog, Huron officers on Dec. 9 seized a loaded revolver and a heap of drugs during a traffic stop.
Leavell Jones, 34, of Highland Hills, Ohio, was charged with possession of weapons under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, trafficking marijuana and obstructing official business.
Officers stopped Jones’ car on Cleveland Road because it didn’t have license plate lights. When they approached the vehicle they smelled marijuana, a police report said.
Jones told officers he drove from Cleveland to visit his girlfriend in town, but he could only offer her name as “Dubie,” the report said.
Perkins police arrived at the scene with a police dog, which approached Jones’ car and signaled toward the driver’s-side door. Officers removed Jones from the car and patted him down, finding $1,363 in his pocket.
Jones then tried to run, but an officer tackled him, the report said.
When he continued to fight, an officer shot a Taser into his lower back. A second jolt from the Taser subdued him, the report said.
Police then turned their attention to the car. Inside they found a fully loaded .32-caliber pistol, a bag of crack cocaine and numerous bags of marijuana, the report said.
Late Thursday, Jones was being held in the Erie County jail in lieu of $40,000 bond.

Now let's see what the Prosecuter and Judge do. I don't think the law says anything about "not" throwing the book at out of towners (no pleas, throw the book at him) He didn't come to town for a family reunion or church service.
