LLouise Harriet Wobser Gilchrist Christie, 95, of Findlay, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, in Birchaven Retirement Village, Findlay.

Louise was born Aug. 4, 1915, to Fred and Martha (Reinheimer) Wobser in Sandusky. In 1927 the family moved to Toledo where Louise attended Libbey High School and graduated in 1933 with a membership in the National Honor Society. She then attended the University of Toledo and Felt & Tarrant Business School. After graduation she worked for American Can Co. and was the first woman cashier in their 10 plants. In 1950 she went to work for Textileather which later became a division of The General Tire and Rubber Co., where she also held the position of cashier and from where she retired in 1979.

After retirement, she moved to Stuart, Fla., where she was actively involved by serving on the board of directors for the Council on Aging; Vista Pines Condo Association; Treasure Coast Condo Association and Redeemer Lutheran Church.

In 1945 she married Louis W. Gilchrist and he preceded her in death in 1975. In 1982 she married Charles G. Christie and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded by a brother, Walter F. Wobser and a nephew, Ralph A. Wobser.

She is survived by a nephew, David J. (Janet) Wobser of Findlay; great-nephews, Jeffery (Jane) Wobser of Findlay, Steven and Andrew Wobser of Cincinnati and Brad Wobser of Arizona; great-great-nephews, Broderick and Bryson Wobser of Cincinnati; step-daughter, Gail S. (Paul) Carr of Cashiers, N.C., and step-son, Charles G. (Sally) Christie Jr. of Kennebunk, Maine.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Birchaven Village, 15100 Birchaven Lane, with Chaplain Mike Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (10-11 a.m.) in the chapel. A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
