Freddie "Fred" J. Weese, 65, of Monroeville died Friday, May 21, 2010, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born July 21, 1944, in Sutton, W.Va., and was a Monroeville resident for the past 26 years, moving from Castalia. He worked as a tool and die maker for New Departure, Sandusky, and General Motors, Mansfield, for 30 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the UAW 913, Sandusky and was an avid motorcycle rider and racer. He started dirt bike and flat track racing in California and raced locally at Norwalk, Mansfield, and Meadowlarks, Amherst. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and two dogs, Jackson and Benny.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather (Larry) Weese Benton of Louisiana; son, William W. Weese of Ohio; grandchildren, Seth and Lydia Benton; sisters, Treva Beale of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Martha Amato of Lorain; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred S. and Sarah V. (Weese) Weese; sister, Kay Fricke; and nephew, Joseph Amato.
Friends may call 4-8 Sunday in Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, with Pastor Rich Henry officiating.
