Phyllis Marie Sanders, 73, of Margate, Fla., and formerly Milan died Monday evening, May 17, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Birmingham, Ohio, daughter of the late Michael and Elsie (Raab) McKinnon. Phyllis was a member of the VFW, AMVETS and American Legion both in Milan and Margate. She enjoyed camping, boating, crafts and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Dale) Ezell of Milan and Peggy (Del) Taylor of Middle Bass Island; seven grandchildren, Erin Sanders, Austin Ezell, Whitney Jackson, Ward (Ryanne) Cooley III, Christina Jones, Katlin Jones and Cody Wiley; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Ron) Schoenegge of Naples, Fla.; brother, David (Janice) Mckinnon of Norwalk; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1991; stepfather, Robert Lumley; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Neill Charville; two brothers, Mac McKinnon and Roger McKinnon; and two infant siblings.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday until memorial services at 1 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St., Milan. The Rev. Frank Speier of St. Anthony's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Milan Cemetery.
