The Rev. Robert D. "Bob" Hoffman, 57, of 3208 Cleveland Road W., Huron, died unexpectedly late Tuesday evening, Dec. 12, 2006, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born Nov. 11, 1949, in Randolph County, Ind., and was a 1968 graduate of Angola High School, Angola, Ind. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from the Atlanta Christian College with his bachelor degree in theology.

Pastor Bob came to First Christian Church, Sandusky, on March 18, 2006. Prior to this, he was the Senior pastor at Meadowbrook Christian Church, Rochester Hills, Mich., from 1995-2004 and the associate pastor and a minister of the deaf at Mt. Carmel Christian Church, Stone Mountain, Ga., for 18 years. His hobbies included being outdoors, deer hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, the former Rebecca A. Hyatt; two children, Charles W. "Woody" Hoffman and Corrie E. Hoffman and her fiancÃ, Lee Corrwin, all of Huron; one sister, Jody (Eric) Nagel of Angola, Ind., and one brother, Danny Hoffman of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Mary (Barr) Hoffman and two brothers, David and Greg Hoffman.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Friday until services at 11 a.m. in First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Ave., Sandusky. Mr. Greg Hambrick will officiate. Graveside committal services, with full military honors, will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Ind. Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky, is in charge of arrangements.
