L.B. "BUBBA" ROBERSON JULY 11, 1912-DEC. 11, 2006

Sep 1, 2015

L. B. "Bubba" Roberson, 94, of Sandusky, son of Willie Ballard Thomas and Alexander Dud Roberson, went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 11, 2006. Bubba closed his eyes to eternal rest at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.

He was born July 11, 1912, in Jackson, Tenn., and after spending his early years there, Bubba migrated to Ohio in the mid 1940s, where he met and married his late wife, Elizabeth Butler, in May 1947. Together, they grew in the Lord and shared a mutual love for traveling and supporting various world ministries. In October 1985, Bubba and Elizabeth journeyed to the Holy Land where they enjoyed a life-changing experience as they retraced the steps of Jesus throughout the region. A diligent Bible scholar, Bubba loved to watch videotapes of spirited evangelists who were known for "preaching the truth." Bubba was united in fellowship with the Assembly of Jesus Christ Church in Sandusky, where he supported the building fund and numerous other ministries. He truly loved the Lord and found great joy in his Christian walk.

A member of the United Auto Workers, Local 393, Bubba was a furnace operator at the Sandusky operations of Vulcan Materials Company from February 1944 until his retirement in June 1973. After that, he enjoyed his leisure time as an avid fisherman and was quite a passionate hunter. Bubba was well known for his journeys far and near to breed and trade coon dogs, which he expertly trained to hunt all sort of wildlife.

Bubba's daughter, Bessie L. Smith, of Sandusky, will forever cherish his memory. He also leaves his stepson, Tom O. (Diane) Hayes Sr. of Sandusky; and his step grandchildren, David Clark of Sandusky, Sophia (Melvin) Jackson of Clinton, Md., Tom O. (Marie) Hayes Jr. of Sandusky and Scott (Jodie) Hayes of Austin, Texas; and stepsister, Lillian Kennedy, of Gary, Ind. Bubba's many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will always remember him fondly. His devoted niece, Barbara Johnson, will especially miss spoiling her "Uncle Bub."

Bubba's parents preceded him in death as did his brother, J. D. Thomas; a sister, Eula V. Roberson; his stepfather, Bob Davis; a stepsister, Pauline Carter; and stepbrothers, Emmett and David Dunnigan.

Friends may call from noon Friday until services at 1 p.m. in the Assembly of Jesus Christ Church, 3510 Beatty Ave., Sandusky. Elder Johnnie Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Toft Funeral Home Crematory, Sandusky, is handling the arrangements.
