Robert N. Mansfield III, 20, of Norwalk, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 10, 2006, as the result of injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born Aug. 9, 1986, in Norwalk, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a 2005 graduate of St. Paul High School, where he was active in band and the baseball, swimming and golf teams. He enjoyed rock climbing, dodge ball and his motorcycle. He was a groundskeeper at Eagle Creek Golf Course and was a member of the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Weapon Company in Perrysburg, Ohio.
He is survived by his parents, Robert N. and Marjorie H. (Pheifer) Mansfield Jr. of Norwalk; his sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Michael Bush of Norwalk; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond Pheifer in 1990 and Loretta (Hay) Pheifer in 2002; his paternal grandparents, Robert N. Mansfield Sr. in 1980 and Marjorie (Cutcher) Mansfield in 1993; his aunts, Cheryl Pimpo in 2003, Susan Mansfield in 2005; and by his cousin, James Copsey in 2005.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk where prayer services will be at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, where military graveside services will be conducted by 1st Battalion, 24th Marines Weapon Company.
