Emerson Sumser, 93, of Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 11, 2006, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born June 5, 1913, in Sandusky, and retired from Industrial Nut Co. in 1978 after 30 years of service. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was an usher, a choir member and taught religious education. He was a member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing the organ, watching baseball, and making wonderful family movies.
Emerson is survived by his daughter, Rosemary (Tom) Romick of Sandusky; a son, Tom (Lois) Sumser of Gaithersburg, Md.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Butler) Sumser, on Oct. 13, 2005, and whom he married Sept. 25, 1942; parents, William and Mary (Lonz) Sumser; three brothers, Victor, James, and Harold Sumser; and a sister, Martha Mary Mosser.
Friends will be received from noon Wednesday until services at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Philip Feltman officiating. Burial will be follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
