Duane F. Lonz, 57, of Monroeville died early Thursday morning, Dec. 7, 2006, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born June 2, 1949 in Norwalk to Nelson V. and Mildred C. (Phillips) Lonz, now deceased, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1967 graduate of Monroeville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1967-71 and served in England and Germany. He retired in 2004 from Ohio Edison with 32 years of service. He also worked for Monroeville Public Schools and was a sidewalk inspector for the city of Norwalk. He was member of American Legion Post 547, Monroeville, was Chancellor of Knights of Columbus Council 1117 in Monroeville and was a member of the Huron County Veterans Memorial Committee.
He was a former member of the Norwalk and Western Model Railroad Club and was an avid model railroader. He was a Harley Davidson and British Motor Car enthusiast.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 33 years, Sandra E. "Sandy" (Young) Lonz of Monroeville; and a beloved father to his son, Elliot D. Lonz of Homestead, Fla. and daughter, Jennifer R. Lonz of Monroeville. He is also survived by his brother, David N. Lonz of Monroeville.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine R. Lonz in 1985.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville, where The Rev. Kenneth Lill will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
