John F. Heckenhauer, 75, of Lakeside, Ohio, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born June 19, 1931 in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Vera (Mader) and George Heckenhauer, now deceased. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1949. In 1953 he graduated from the College of Agriculture at the Ohio State University. He then served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his service to his country he returned to Ohio State and received his degree in business.
In 1956 he married Janice Wood of Baltimore, Md. He retired from Eaton Corporation.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Heckenhauer of Lakeside; his daughters, Elizabeth (Harry) Turner of Anthem, Ariz. and Christine Domeier of Rochester Hills, Mich.; grandchildren, Michael Skierski and Sarah Domeier, both of Rochester Hills; sister, Susan (Donald) Widman of Galion, Ohio; brother, William (Janet) Heckenhauer of Bucyrus; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from noonSaturday until services at 1 p.m. in Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside--Marblehead, Ohio. The Rev. Harry Hull will officiate. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.
Memorial contributions may be given to Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department.
