Robert Carl Williams, 73, of Birmingham, Ohio, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, in Beckley, W.Va.
He was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Elyria, Ohio, and resided there until he moved to Birmingham. He also had a home in Englewood, Fla. Mr. Williams was the founder of Williams Brothers' Builders in 1959, retiring in 1999. He was past president of Spring Valley Country Club in Elyria. He was a member of Myakka Pines Golf Club in Englewood and Pelee Island Hunt Club, where he spent many summer weekends enjoying the island. He was also a member of Vermilion AMVETS, Vermilion American Legion, Huron Eagles 2875 and Elyria Moose Lodge. He was first team All Ohio in Football for Elyria High in 1951 and played football in college at Kent State.
He also played football while in the Army, while stationed in Germany. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and woodworking.
Mr. Williams is survived by a daughter, Susan Stempel of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two sons, Brian of Cary, N.C., and Barton of Vermilion; five grandchildren; five sisters, Gloria Pasenow of Wakeman, Ohio, Shirley Dean of Elyria, Marilyn Dean of Fairfax, Va., Carol Wagner of Amherst, Ohio and Sandy Muschitz of LaGrange, Ohio; two brothers, Bruce of Elyria and George of Huntington, Ohio. He is also survived by his significant other, Kathy Wilson, of Huron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Dorothy; and his pet Labrador retriever, Jack.
Friends will be received from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, where services will be 11 a.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
