Susan R. Smith, 62, of Vermilion died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at her home after a six-month illness.
She was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Elyria and was a Vermilion resident since moving from Lorain in 1978. She worked at Lithonia Down Lighting in Vermilion for 12 years. She also worked at Ritter Public Library and Flat Rock Home Care Facility. She attended Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion, and enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, knitting, her dogs, swimming and baking.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Paul "P.J." Smith; son, Rodney (Julie) Fisher of Huron; daughter, Melinda Fisher of Vermilion; grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison, Ronnie, Brittany and Paul; and her brother, Raymond Wilson of Wellington.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Raymond and Dorothy (Linden) Wilson.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home; the Rev. Lee Stull will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
