DEWEY R. WOODRUFF JR.

Dewey R. Woodruff Jr., 61, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 2, 1949 in Sandusky. He was a 1967 graduate of Margaretta High School. Dewey was employed by Lowes as a truck driver and formerly worked for Goodwill Industries and Sandusky Dressed Beef as a driver.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky Eagles and American Legion Post 83. Dewey was a founding member of the Rebound Band, playing over all of northern Ohio for the past 30 years. He sang at Holy Angels with George Gast for several years. Dewey enjoyed all Cleveland sports teams and spending time with family and friends.
Dewey is survived by his wife, Alice (Hummel) Woodruff, whom he married Nov. 14, 1970; his daughter, Christine Chudy of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sons, Dewey Raymond Woodruff of Sandusky and Bill (Mona) Woodruff of Burlington, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Nick, Alison, Cory, Jesiah, Alexandra, Emily, Noah and Evan; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Molly; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Violet (Gilson) and Dewey R. Woodruff Sr. and his brother, Michael Woodruff.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Missler will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
